2 week check up!

Our little man Mitch had his 2 week check up yesterday and has now been deemed little piggy! He has gained a pound from his last appt, making him 9 lbs 8 oz and has grown an inch! The doctor told us he is definitely getting enough food and gave us a weird look! I said that we call him little piggy and she agreed! LOL! Maybe she can't outright say it, but there isn't anything that says she can't agree with it! This last Sunday he ate pretty much every hour! We went to church and I made sure that the last thing we did before leaving was feed him so we could make it through Sacrament meeting. Well I at least made it through the passing of Sacrament! I couldn't believe it! Then he ate again at the start of the last block! He was pretty much awake the entire time, so we had a fun time showing off our sweet little man! His newborn rash has gone away, so now he is just the cutest thing ever!!! I know everyone always thinks that their kid is the cutest, but I think we have everyone beat! :) See for yourself...

A family pic!

When people meet Mitch they comment on who he looks like and ask us who do we think he looks like? Well he definitely has my family chin and nose and we think Seth's eyes(YAY!) and head. I had a huge head as a baby, I'm so glad he didn't inherit that!! ;) We took a cute pic of him today to compare with a pic of Seth as a baby. Seth was given a little stuffed dog as baby named Rover he had a red ribbon around his neck that he rubbed when sleepy! So cute! Well Grandma and Grandpa Andres got a little stuffed dalmatian for Mitch and made sure to see that he had a red ribbon too! We named the little guy Sparky. Here are pics of Seth and Mitch with their doggies...

Seth and Rover

Mitch and Sparky - how adorable is this?!! I just LOVE it!!! He looks a lot like Seth huh? Here are some of the other cute pics from the little shoot with Sparky...

Kissing Sparky... is that a nipple?! Give it to me!!!

I'm done! No more photos you crazy paparazzi!

I finally have gotten a slide show together of all the visitors/admirers of Mitch who have visited over the last couple weeks...

Hope you all are still loving the pics, we can't get enough of them and our little guy!! :)

Mitch's first REAL bath!

On Tuesday we got a wonderful surprise! Mitch's icky belly button fell off!!! That thing smelled so raunchy!! We were so excited to have it gone (his tummy is so much cuter without it!) and to be able to give him a real bath!! So that night we gave it a go, it went pretty well without incident and he didn't cry the WHOLE time, which means he at least liked it a little bit, right?! :) Here are the pics...

Daddy bringing him to the torture chamber!

Mommy getting soaping him up!

See not so bad...

Might actually be enjoying!

Getting dried off by Daddy, he decided it was a good time to pee! See the wetness on the green towel! So funny!

All clean, dried off, lotioned up and fed!! Perfect time to cuddle with Daddy!
This I had to share! These are the dirty diapers from the upstairs changing area for the last 11 days - crazy huh?! Daddy is so proud!! :)

OH... that's why it hurts so bad!

This is an update on me... if you're at all interested! :) I'm doing good... it is amazing how my life is so important now, at least to this little baby who depends on me for his food! I'm truly loving motherhood and know this is what I was meant to do! I'm not saying that every second is peachy and not difficult at all, but it is just so much more fulfilling than any other job I have had! Now on to the less peachy side of things(this is a forewarning to those who might not want to read the less glamorous side of being a new mom!)...

So it seems I was not informed very well at the hospital of what a 3rd Degree Tear is!! I think they just do not want to actually tell you how bad it actually is! They just tell you how to take care of it and send you on your merry way and then you wonder why it hurts so bad to sit!!! Oh yeah that's because you tore all the way to your anus!! Thanks to everyone for cluing me in!! I can not believe they just brushed over that part!!!! Any coughing, sneezing, clearing of the throat and laughing hard KILLS!!! Also in the hospital they show you how to make this crazy diaper with their mesh panties, chuck pad, 2 regular pads, makeshift ice pack in a baby diaper and medicine pads... so retarded how long it takes and how uncomfortable it is!!! Anyways on the way home from the hospital we stopped by CVS Pharmacy to get supplies for this crazy contraption and guess what was on sale? DEPENDS!!!! Hallelujah! What a concept!! Someone needs to tell the Labor and Delivery ward about this new invention! I'm not at all ashamed or embarrassed to wear them either! Seth finds them very sexy and thinks they make a perfect ensemble with the nursing pads! I think this is what I might start giving to brides to be at their bridal showers! LOL! Anyways... every day it is getting better luckily, but now I know why they say no hanky panky for 6 weeks! Also I've had a couple breakdowns over the most retarded small things = Seth politely asking me to be quiet sent me into a meltdown, he then asked if he should get the pamphlet on Post-Partum Depression! NOT VERY FUNNY at the moment, he made me feel better after that though. Then 2 days later he made me lunch and forgot to bring me a knife, then he got the wrong knife... then he got upset and I had another meltdown!! That time he just ignored me until I stabilized. :) Good times! I feel bad for him, but I think he knows it could be worse though! I'm so glad it isn't and that he is around to give me a break and a little extra sleep so I can be a good mom! He is the best! I'm going to be really sad when he goes back to work and won't be able to see and share in every little moment with Mitch! Those are the only things I can really complain about, everything else is accompanied with a sweet smelling baby that I cannot get enough of! Oh! I almost forgot to tell you how much I can eat now! It is CRAZY what I can put away! I was so used to not being able to eat much since little Mitch was taking the room up! I have also always been a really slow eater... well not anymore! I cannot get it in fast enough!!! Give me food and give me it now!! I'm going to have to start watching it so I can keep the weight off that I lost with being prego! Luckily breastfeeding helps in that dept! That's pretty much it for now! I've recieved a few pics of me and Mitch in the hospital that I love and thought I would share in this post!
A few hours after giving birth to my baby boy, eating the hospital food AND a burger that my family went and got for me! I love that you can see the remnants in the backround!
This is in the Family Care Room that we luckily didn't have to share with anyone that night! I'm so stylish in the hospital gown huh?

One Week Old!!

This week has gone by way too fast!!! Our little baby is already a week old and it makes me a little sad cause I already can't get that time back!!!! We've been enjoying him SO MUCH!! Even the 2am golden showers and poop explosions! :) Maybe not as much as the little coos and cuddles, but we really are loving it all! I finished up the slideshow I started on my eight month post to show total growth of our little Mitchell...

I'm going to try to be good about getting pics of him in his car seat to track his growth in his first year, my friend did with her daughter and I just loved it!

Some more cute pics...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

This is Mitchell's 1st St.Patty's Day and seeing that he is a wee irish(from his mommy's side if you weren't sure! LOL!) we couldn't pass the photo opportunity up!! This was after he got a little snack and fell into his milk induced coma!
This pic he was awake for, but was not wanting to show off the cute onesie Auntie Amber got him! It says: Baby's 1st St.Patrick's Day! He is so adorable in Mommy's favorite color!

Seth has been a little bummed that he has been getting stuck with the not so fun jobs that make little Mitch sad! He has changed practically every diaper to help me, since it is harder for me to move around! He wakes up at every feeding time during the night to change him and them get us set up for nursing, he is really the BEST DADDY and I'm so glad he has this time off with us and that he is so willing to help out! He made the comment to his friends when they were over the other day that he never thought he would be so involved with another man's butt! :) But really there is nothing sweeter than watching your man change your baby's diaper and being so playful and caring while he does it! Anyways, Seth got another not so high on Mitch's list task today of giving him a sponge bath! Here are the pics...
Getting him prepped by taking off the band-aids from all the sad pokes he got at the hospital! I love how tiny Mitch looks next to big, strong Daddy!

All finished up and getting dried off! As you can see he was a little upset!

So after this ordeal we decided that Daddy needed to have an activity so Mitch would be happy with him! So we had our first "pumping experience", no pics from the actual pumping(I know your bummed! LOL!)! So Seth was able to feed Mitch a small bottle of milk! It was really interesting to see what a small amount satisfied the little guy and now we know why he needs to feed so often! Here is a cute pic and video...

The little satisfied sighs that he makes kills me!!! So adorable! One of these days we will get the fit he throws while he is getting his diaper changed so you can hear his "Teradactyl" scream which means he needs food pronto!! We think it is hilarious that he can make that sound! He did it for us the first night we were home and we looked at each other, starting laughing and got him the boob fast!!!

Mitch's 1st Dr. Appointment

I have so much I want to post about right now, but I've decided to wait on most of it so I can do this one! There is a lot of posting to come on everything else though, I really want to be able to remember how everything went and how it all felt! So I got some blogging to do whenever I get the chance!! This is Mitch at the moment...

All snuggly in his Take Along Swing (Thanks, he loves it Aunt Erin!!) so Mommy can Blog! :) He is such a good baby! He loves his binky and to be wrapped up in a little cacoon!

So Mitchell had his 1st Dr. Appt yesterday! It took us FOREVER to get out the door! You can tell we are so new at this!!! We actually made it out in time enough to get some lunch on the way at my new favorite restaurant Lone Star Steakhouse! They have the BEST lunch deals and the YUMMIEST rolls!!! That stop made us a tad late for our appt though... oh well, Mommy's got to eat! :)

So we made it to the appt and they weighed him, he came in at 8 lbs, 8 oz - really good they said! We were worried about this pimply red rash he had that looked like chicken pocks or measles but they said that is normal newborn rash and will go away soon and not to pick!! I KNOW, but it is so hard not to!! I haven't though because I know it won't help and Seth would be really mad! Anyways, he is doing great and the lactation lady was really impressed with our superb nursing skills! She asked how many kids we've had and we told her this is our first... she was really surprised! :) I'm so glad that is going well, I can't imagine having to deal with that cause it really helps to get him satisfied and us some sleep! They checked out his belly button and peep and helped us with tips on how to really take care of. We were being to gentle with the button and not gentle enough with the peep! So sad!! The Dr. asked us if we were putting vaseline on his peep and of course we were, but she told us definitely not enough! Nobody showed us in the hospital that you have to GOB it on!! Poor little guy!! Luckily nothing bad had happened to it! All in all they said we were doing a really good job though!! Yay! We are good parents so far! The Dr. sealed up his diaper for us and we went on our way home...

When we got home we noticed that Mitch had something on his face, it was yellowy brown... he was sleeping so good in his car seat so we decided to wait on checking it out. Our friend stopped by to bring us dinner and we got him out to be held and realized that it was POOP on his face!!! WHAT THE WHAT?!! How did that happen? Well earlier when we were watching the Dr. seal his diaper we both thought we were sealing his diapers to tight because she did it pretty loose. Seems like she needs some diapering lessons too! His poop had leaked out of his diaper and onesie we had him in cause it was hot yesterday, he got his hand in it and then put it on his face!!! So gross! But really funny and I'm sad we didn't get a pic of it! Here are some cute ones for the meantime though...

Mitch and his buddy Nolan, fast friends! It was so cute to watch Leslie(Nolan's Mom) hold Mitch and Nolan was getting a little confused on what was happening and wanted to throw down after awhile! So funny!
This is Mitch and Daddy again, they can't get enough of each other! I just LOVE it!!!

More cute pics and stories to come!

MITCH HAS ARRIVED!!!!

Mitchell George Andres arrived 1 day early on Friday, March 13th (Yes, Friday the 13th) at 1:20pm! Coming in at a whopping 8 lb, 15.4 oz and 21 inches! Mommy still has him beat in that category, so I can't blame Seth for bringing in the big baby genes and hurting my hoo ha! He is way worth it though and is just perfect in every way!

We really couldn't be more ecstatic about him or more in love with him! It is AMAZING that he is finally here and we have to keep pinching ourselves!! I started getting good, consistant contractions on Thursday afternoon and they got to about 4-5minutes apart by 9pm. So after we finished hanging out with some friends,(Seth had gone to hit some golf balls with a buddy and I went to a clothing party) we decided it was time to go in! I'm really glad we waited to make sure it was the real thing, cause I would have been really upset if I had gotten sent home - we almost did! We got there and they weren't too busy luckily cause I was only dilated to a 3! So they let us walk around for an hour and then monitered me cause my contractions started getting really close together and then they finally admitted us at about 2pm when I was about 4 and a half dilated.

I got some great pain killer that took the edge off the contractions until I was able to get an epidural at 4am, I was able to relax until about 7am... which is when I started feeling a ton of pressure with each contraction!! By 10am I was dilated to a 9 and a half and they told me it would be best to wait till 12 to start pushing so I wouldn't be in hard labor too long. I complied against my better judgement and I'm glad I did because DUDE!!!! THAT WAS THE FREAKING HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!!!! If it wasn't bringing me my precious baby I would have given up in the first 5 minutes!!

It took me about and hour and a half, a fun episiotomy AND a 3rd degree tear(still not quite sure what that is, only that the aftermath hurts bad!) to bring him home! I have to say that I was a SUPER TROOPER during the WHOLE THING! I went along with everything they recommended and didn't scream once(to Seth's surprise, he was really impressed by me), even though I wanted to! I really stayed calm cause I knew that it would bring him quicker and freakin' out would only make it harder! They told me I was amazing(I'm sure they tell everyone that) and that it is very rare for a first timer to get their baby out that quickly! I feel sorry for those who have had a harder time, with no epidural! To them I bow down and say you are nuts! Because I can't believe how bad it hurt with an epidural!! Pushing did help relieve a lot of the pressure, but by the end my epidural had run out and I was working so hard in a race to not feel anymore than that pressure that breathing was all could do in between pushing! And I could say a lot more, but I think that all I need to say is GET AN EPIDURAL!!! Seeing him arrive was way worth all of it though and I would do it all over again just to watch Seth and how fascinated and immediatly in love with his son he was! We had made a deal before giving birth that he would stay up by my head and watch from that angle, well that didn't happen in the least bit!!! He was all up in the action! I couldn't believe it, but should have known it would happen! Who wouldn't watch a train wreck? :) On that note here are some more pictures...

Me right after giving birth!!!! LOL!!

Look how red I am!!! I haven't exercised like that in a long time!!! Oh, you probably expected pics of the baby... okay here you go! :) ....

He came out with the cutest big cry ever!!! I wish we had video of it! The whole birthing staff was cracking up at how cute he was and how vocal he was!!! I know buddy, wasn't exactly painless for me either! :)

Daddy and Mitch, together for the first time!!! I think this is what love is!

Our little family!

Me finally getting my natural color back and Mitch latching on for the 1st time! He knew just what to do!! Sorry if that's too much skin for you! I love how relieved and happy I look that he was doing good in this dept right away!!

Skin time with Daddy!! I love this pic!!!

Cuddle time with Mommy! I'm a Mommy now!!!!
It was all so worth it cause this is what we brought home last night!!! Isn't he the cutest?!

AND this is what I woke up to this morning! Heaven on earth!!!

Thanks to everyone who came and visited and sent their love already! My next post is going to be those fun pics and some funny stuff from our stay in the hospital and how we are doing with this sudden change in our lives! Love you all and you are all welcome to come meet our little Mitch! All we ask is that you just call to set up a time and that you not be sick or have anyone sick in the family! Thanks for understanding, he'll still be here to cuddle when you are well enough! :)
