To start this out I wanted to reflect on an experience we had the other day as a family. We were running errands and had to take a different road due to a detour. Well we pulled out our handy dandy Thomas Guide and decided to take this dirt road along with 10 plus other cars and were driving around trying to find a way out to the other side and could not, every road we tried led to another locked gate or dead end and we were trespassing on private land. Well we see a guy in a truck that had been doing the same thing wave to us to come try this way with him across this huge flood ditch that was dried up. We were actually having some fun and feeling adventerous and watched him make it, so we decided to give it a try.. well we got stuck, pretty badly. And then another car tried too and got stuck right behind us! Seth tried to get us out by digging out the wheels with his hands(they had sunk deep into this sandy ditch) and putting wood and branches under the tires to hopefully catch them to get out, but it was not working. As time wore on he started getting worried, I was a tad worried and Mitch was starting to get grouchy. So I decided to stay positive and find the hilarity of it! I had tried to help with digging us out, but Seth asked me to just keep Mitch happy. So while playing with Mitch I started snapping some pics of the situation(that made Seth a tad annoyed), but I'm glad I did cause I want to remember this situation! A few workers for the land we were trespassing on came around to see what was going on and tried to help but couldn't, so we finally ended up calling AAA to come rescue us! Well while we were waiting for that a kid in a huge truck came out of nowhere and offered to help pull us out and had out the right equipment for it!! He just happened to be checking out the area and saw us and wanted to help! He was able to help while I was dealing with the grumpy AAA tow truck guy who couldn't have helped us anyway and then he and Seth helped get the other car out too!
Now mind you this wasn't the most ideal situation to be in and in retrospect we should have just turned around and gone back where we came from.. but I'm glad we had this experience! BECAUSE I had been reflecting on what I think our resolutions and goals should be for this next year. They are all good goals to better ourselves and we are excited about them! And while I think and hope they are attainiable for us, I also know we are not perfect and might get STUCK in a physical, mental or spiritual DITCH once and in awhile. Well now I hope I can keep the attitude I had this day, a positive and happy one!! Because things are never going to be easy and we will have our trials, I am sure of it! But if I can make it easier by staying positive.. why not give it a try? I look forward to working on this most of all, because I've found that I really influence this in my little family. If I'm annoyed or upset it really effects my little family and I can say the same for when I'm patient and happy! I know that if I can attain this attribute my Savior will help me the rest of the way and my other goals will be happen much easier! So these are my goals for the year...1. Read the scriptures daily
2. Finish my laundry room and create a better way to get laundry done more efficiently!
3. Create and implement a cleaning schedule for the house that will help me keep it clean all the time!
4. Decorate and take better care of my bedroom
5. Help Seth to organize our office and personal paperwork.
6. Work on getting our blog printed out into a photo journal.
7. Better organize our emergency food storage and add to it.
8. Serve others daily, thanks for my reminder toothbrush Dad!
9. To be pysically healthy and happy with my body
10. Stay Positive!!!
