A GREAT MAN & PROPHET!

A great man and Prophet has passed away and he will be truly missed! I've been reading all the wonderful articles on him this morning and just feel blessed to be part of this church especially at this time! Gordon B Hinckley paved the way for us to share our gospel with our fellowmen! Everytime now that I feel a little upset about people not understanding what a great christian religion this is and how we practice it, I will think of how much worse it would be if President Hinckley hadn't been such a great leader and example of our church! I loved his sense of humor, I remember watching him on Larry King and being in awe of his ability to answer tough questions with such grace! What a great example for us! Seth and I were blessed to attend the dedication of the Newport Temple that he presided over and I'm glad we had that wonderful experience to remember him by! He will be missed but I know Heavenly Father is so happy to have him back! I found this great quote from him that shows his great personality: "People wonder what we do for our women. I'll tell you what we do. We get out of their way and look with wonder at what they're accomplishing."
—Gordon B. Hinckley, National Press Club appearance, March 8, 2000

Here is a link to a great article I found on him from The New York Times... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/28/us/28hinckley.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&adxnnlx=1201550745-kPnoJeiodJNyTJAOgUOZIA

Fun Day at Sea World!

So we went to Sea World with the fam this week! Seth and I had free tickets to take advantage of(another great deal for Seth being a firefighter, now we only have Disneyland left!), my mom, my sisters and their kids were all getting year passes so we decided to make a day out of it! We had a great time watching the kids experience it all, they're so amazed and curious about all the animals! It was fun to get our hands wet and pet the Bat Rays! Seth and I have been wanting to do that for over 5 years now! For our Honeymoon we had picked a specific cruise that went the Grand Cayman Islands, it had a day excursion to go interact with Bat Rays that we were all about! Well a storm foiled our plans! :( What made it even worse was the fact that they still folded our towels into a Bat Ray that night! Rub it in why don't ya, I was so annoyed! We still had an awesome honeymoon though, but this helped make up for that! ;) Anyways, Bat Rays are sweet and I've decided that I want one! My squirrel would love it! (No I don't have a squirrel yet but I plan to and then I will get a Bat Ray!) :) I will let you visit my future zoo if you would like! Okay so there was hardly anyone there so we got to see all the fun shows and smelled some funky smells - penguins stink by the way(they will not be at my zoo)! It was a little cold but perfect weather wise for most of the day, it started sprinkling the last hour we were there but we stayed and finished what we wanted to do without any problems! A great day for us, good times!

My "Top Ten" things of the moment

So I thought I would copy this from my friend Lindsay(thanks lindz)! Here's a little way for you to get to know me better! These are in no particular order, just what I am loving or doing at the moment!

#1 My amazing husband Seth! He is so patient and loving to me and is a super HOT Firefighter! He is a faithful member of our church and is a great example to me!

#2 My calling at church as Young Womens Secretary, I love it! I am a planner and it gives me such an outlet for that! At first I felt like "really me?" "you want me to be an example for teenage girls in the church?" But now I really feel that this was meant for me! I love the young women so much! They are so fun and are great influences for me! Who woulda thought I would end up needing them more than they need me! :) It also gives me the opportunity to earn my Young Womens medallion something I thought I was too cool for in highschool - I was wrong!

#3 "the office" Yes I know it hasn't been on and I am having withdrawals! I saw this funny video on my friend Genni's blog (thanks Genni) and it gave me hope to hopefully seeing a new episode this year! Lets all hope together! :) This is the best show since "Friends" (an old favorite of mine)! Enjoy fellow "the office" lovers!

#4 SUSHI! I crave it every day! I didn't even try it till I was 22 and even then I only liked the ones without raw fish! Well it is my favorite food now! And Seth has come to like it too in the last month! My girlfriend Leslie just took me out to an all you can eat sushi place and we were in heaven! I can usually only eat 8 rolls and we both ate 24 each(We had to take advantage of the "all you can eat")! I was in heaven! I've decided that my favorite roll now is "Cherry Blossom" roll - it has salmon, avocado and cucumber on the inside and tuna on the outside - I had it at the Sushi House in Temecula. I also love the "Red Bull" roll like what is pictured above! Anyways if you need a sushi buddy let me know! :)

#5 Blogging! I love it! My new way of journaling, since I have never been good at that! I LOVE being able to keep in touch with old friends and new friends so easily!

#6 My Family! I have always loved them but I just LOVE family time lately! My family is fun, loud and makes no apologies for it! We understand each other more as we're getting older and have really become best friends! I'm glad to have them as my eternal family! Seth and I have such great support from them in everything we do! I'm so glad that they loved Seth and saw what a good guy he was from the beginning! They made it possible and easy for me to come back to church by accepting me even if I wasn't going, instead of chastising me. And they are a great example for Seth and I of what we want our eternal family to be! I attached pictures of my most favorite little people, my nephews and niece from our holiday photo session! I just adore my nephew Tate!(He is the one in Christmas lights) I feel like we are cut from the same mold! He makes me so happy by wanting me, holding out his pudgy arms to be lifted up or trying to get back to me from someone else! He is my happiness when I am down on not being a mommy yet! I'm glad my sister is so sharing of him! Trent, Austin and Autumn are at the age now where they really enjoy each others company! (See picture of Trent and Austin giggling together) It is so fun to watch them cohort! My dad dressed up as Santa this year and it was so cute watching them convince each other that this was "Grandpa Santa"(see picture below) They get excited to see each other and bummed if they can't see other. They are just perfect, funny little beings with their own personalities and quirks that I cannot get enough of! Trent is very serious and full of knowledge, you have to earn his love! He doesn't just give away his hugs and kisses, you have to be patient or just attack him! He says the funniest matter-of-fact things like in response to me telling him that I was keeping his brother Tate he said "well you're going to need diapers!" - so freakin cute! Autumn is such a girly girl! She loves lip gloss, shoes and purses! Seth caught her putting lip gloss on her dolls! As you can see in her picture she is a cutie, she just recently learned how to smile pretty for the camera(her mother is so grateful)! She is a stealthy, sneaky little girl with a big heart! Austin is the ringleader who wants to be with the grown ups, especially during Bocce Ball games! He makes friends easy and is very willing to help anyone! On a trip to Lego Land with him he heard a mother screaming for her lost child and he told us that we need to help her, "it is the season to help people"! Such a good heart!

#7 My friends! I have such an army behind me, I'm so lucky to have such great people in my life who appreciate me and make me laugh! I love spending time with them, celebrating their successes and being there for them during a hard time.

#8 Settlers of Catan! The best board game ever made! See our "Settlers Table"? I renamed the poker table, it was destined for Settlers! So fun and competitive! You have to think and use strategury (thanks Bush!) to do well in the game! It's interactive and will make you happy and angry all in the same game! Good Times! Ask us to teach you, we would love to do a game night! :)

#9 Learning a new job! I love new jobs and I have had a lot of them in my life! I cannot seem to stay in a job longer than a year! I did work for Nordstrom for 7 years but I worked in many different jobs within that company! I learn quick and get bored easy, and then cannot wait to quit! Can anyone say ADD? Yep, that's me! I think I am meant to raise a eclectic family but until that opportunity arises I have to have a paying job! So now I'm working from home and it gives me the freedom of playing when I want to and keeps me away from the hellish jobs of retail and sales! Yay!

#10 Finding my decorating style! In the absence of my favorite shows due to the writers strike I have found HGTV - it's the fetal position to my loss of good tv! :) I have been delighted to find shows like "Find Your Style", "Divine Design" and "Color Splash" and have really started to figure out what I want in decor! I had been so confused! So now I just need $! Anyone willing to contribute can wire transfer or send in snail mail! :) If anyone else is looking for some style direction take this online quiz! http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hfys/ Go to that page and take the "What's your design style" quiz! It told me that I am:

Sleek & Clean
This decor is really a combination of two design styles – modern earthy-organic paired with bold and contemporary colors – that meet to create a surprising, edgy environment. It's young and fresh and not just trendy, but ahead of the curve.
Your design style includes furnishings and light fixtures verging on industrial, with lots of steel and glass that creates a high-tech, urban feel. The colors are either black and white with bold accents, or rich, saturated swathes of color on the walls, fabrics and rugs. Eclectic mixtures of color, texture and material show off your individuality.

Well I hope you enjoyed my "Top Ten" and I challenge you to blog your "Top Ten" things of the moment, I would love to get to know you better!

Love, Heather

Legoland!

I almost forgot about this! We took our nephew Austin and neice Autumn to Legoland on Christmas Eve and had the best time!
Not the place to go without kids and we happened to have 4 free tickets(it pays to have a firefighter hubby) and no kids of our own yet, so they were the lucky kids! We had a blast! They have the funniest firefighter show for the kids and Austin really got into the action screaming out the answers to questions and warning them of the fire in the building - it was really cute!
We couldn't believe all the stuff made out of legos! Really intricate stuff! Seth and I really got a kick out of the minature citys like New Orleans, New York and Vegas (See pics and funny stories below), we have been to those places and could totally recognize all the details! So cool! It was the perfect day weather wise and lines were only 20 minutes long at the most! So if you get the chance take your kids or someone else's! :)

P.S. So I have a few funny quick stories about our trips to New Orleans and New York! In New York we went to central park (pictured here in the left in legos) and they have the craziest squirrels there! They climb right up your pants if they think you have food - they don't even have to see it! It was then and there that I decided it would be awesome to have a pet squirrel! I hear they are trainable if you get as a baby, so if you have a baby squirrel that needs a home...let me know! :)
Now in New Orleans we went to a park as well, it sits in front of the big white church (pictured here on the right in legos). We found another type of rodent there, a rat - but we found it dead! I'm glad though, I don't know what I woulda done if that thing crawled up my leg! Anyways it was just there on the sidewalk of this park so Seth picked up a stick and poked it and I took a pic! We have it somewhere, I'll upload it one of these days for your viewing pleasure! Good times, well I hope you enjoyed my rodent filled memories!

Seth Trailer Trash 30th Birthday Bash!

Well we had a fun party for Seth and as you can see below it was CRAZY! Sorry if you missed out! We played fun games like Pin the Tail on the Honkey, Pop the Balloon with your Bodies and a really hilarious Pie Eating Contest! All I can say is Good Times! Thanks to all who came and got into it!

Family Pictures!

So we did family pictures with my fam right before new years, we hadn't taken in over 3 years so we figured it was time! We did them unprofessionally on a really pretty day over on a golf course behind Tom's Farms! Great, beautiful scenery over there! I would love to help you take your family photos there - no charge! :) Anyways check it out!

So we are usually pretty photogenic but we took about 200 shots to make sure! I'm glad we did, it's hard to get the kids to cooperate (I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir on that one though)! We always take our "crazy" shots, which I always like the best! :) We have a great one in front of the temple similar to this one on the day Seth and I were sealed and I love it! This is my eternal family and at least we know how to have fun! :) Throwing the leaves made some great pics! The neice and nephews having a good time doing so!

All in all it turned out pretty good, now we don't have to do pictures for another 3 years!

Seth's Fire Academy Graduation Pictures

Woo Hoo! He's done! And officially a OCFA Firefighter! He will be stationed in Rancho Santa Margarita for the next 6 months, so just a drive over the 74 a few times a week! We're happy to have the Academy over and done with (Right in time for his 30th Birthday - He's an old man now!) Check out his graduation pictures...

So Here I Am...

So I've been checking out all of your cute blogs and I always want to comment but cannot without joining! So here I am! I've really enjoyed reading Melissa's blog and picked up her website tips on how to create a cute blog, so hopefully I did okay! :) I'm used to Myspace but alot of you are not on there, so I come to you!
